Francisco Rodriguez will continue his baseball career with the independent Long Island Ducks.

"We have agreed to terms with Francisco Rodriguez," Ducks president and general manager Michael Pfaff told Newsday. "The goal is to get him in here as soon as possible. We anticipate his arrival this week. As soon as he arrives, we'll issue an official press release once he signs his contract."

The Oakland Athletics have approached Khris Davis about a one-year contract extension for the 2019 season.

The two sides are in early negotiations on a deal that would buy out the final year of arbitration for Davis.

Davis is hitting .257/.339/.535 with seven home runs in 115 plate appearances.

The Cleveland Indians have reportedly agreed to a minor league deal with Melky Cabrera.

Cabrera, 33, went unsigned this offseason after a poor finish to the 2017 season with the Kansas City Royals.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have traded right-hander Edwin Quezada to the Seattle Mariners for an international bonus slot.

The amount of money moved in the deal isn't known, but international pool money can only be dealt in $250,000 increments.

The Mariners actively sought to add bonus pool money this past offseason as they pursued Shohei Ohtani. They added roughly $2.5 million in additional international funds through a series of deals.

The Texas Rangers have officially signed Cuban outfielder Julio Pablo Martinez.

The club agreed to terms with Martinez, 21, in early March.

He became eligible to sign on Friday. The prospect will receive a $2.8 million signing bonus, which eats up the remainder of the Rangers' 2017-18 bonus pool.

Jose Bautista has agreed to a Minor League deal with the Atlanta Braves.

Bautista will receive a one-year, $1 million deal if added to Atlanta's 40-man roster.

He will report to the Braves' extended spring training complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, to work himself into game condition. They plan to use Bautista at third base.

Matt Chapman is off to a hot start this season and the Oakland Athletics have already attempted to lock him up over the long-term.

Chapman entered Monday's action hitting .333/.403/.650 with five home runs in 16 games. He has also played terrific defense at third base.

The Athletics approached Chapman and agent Scott Boras about a potential multiyear deal, but they were told that there is currently no interest in such talks, according to a source.

Chapman won't be eligible for arbitration until after the 2020 season. He won't hit the free agent market until the winter of 2023.

Mark Reynolds has signed a minor league deal with the Washington Nationals.

Reynolds, 34, hit .267 with 30 homers, 97 RBIs and 175 strikeouts in 520 at-bats for the Colorado Rockies last season.

He went unsigned this offseason in a historically cold free agent market.

After scoring 5.1 runs per game in 2017, the Nationals are at just 4.2 runs per game this season.

Mat Latos has signed a contract with the New Jersey Jackals of the independent Canadian-American Association.

Latos, 30, threw just 15 innings in the Major Leagues last season.

The Texas Rangers have granted Trevor Plouffe his release from the organization.

He had been with the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate.

Plouffe, 31, began the season by going 3-for-11 with a home run, double and six walks in 17 plate appearances.

He was a first-round pick of the Minnesota Twins in 2004.
